Farmer's Market Saturday

Hello all! Sorry for the lack of posts. The summer heat and resulting laziness has hit us hard. Also, it's appears that we have misplaced our camera's charger and haven't been able to upload any of our photos from the past week.

Anyway...on this blazing hot Saturday, we hit up the Haile Plantation Farmer's Market. It was the first time for both of us. It was a totally charming market, and we got a lot of yummy goodies (local pasta, veggies, blueberries, mufaletta, and smoked mullet all made it into our bag!) that became a very yummy dinner!

Tennesee Adventure Part II

The second part of our Tennessee adventure was white water rafting!  It was such a blast.  We drove to the North Carolina/Tennessee border and rafted down the upper part of the Pigeon River.  Our guide, Nolan, at USA Rafts was so much fun!  The scenery was absolutely beautiful with the sun setting over the mountains during our trip downriver.

Nolan, our guide, shows us his intense face!

Tennessee Summer Adventure Part 1

We had an amazing Memorial Day weekend!  We took a trip up to Knoxville, TN to visit our friends, Matt and Kim.  Along with one of our Gainesville buddies, Michelle, and some new Knoxville friends, we had a blast tubing, whitewater rafting, hanging out, and eating delicious food.

First on the agenda, was a tubing trip in Townsend, Tennessee.

We had a lot of fun swinging from this rope and jumping off the rock

Everyone loves Cupcakes!

Everyone knows that food is an important part of any celebration, especially weddings.  Instead of going for a traditional wedding cake, J. and I opted for cupcakes (and a couple of other desserts).  We were so lucky to have our friends Alex and Marisa (dynamic sister duo) make the most amazing mimosa cupcakes and lemon bars.  The cupcakes were to die for with a fluffy orange cake and champagne frosting topped with orange zest.  Everyone loved them!  Our dessert table also featured carrot cake cupcakes and key lime pie tarts (made by Jacob's mother's group of  lady friends).

DIY cake tiers

Most of these cake tiers were handmade by Alex.  She glued candle sticks and vases to vintage plates.  We were so thrilled with how they came out. It really was a stunning spread.

Thrifting and Exploring in Newberry, FL!

Our trivia team, The Tara Reid Boob Job Massacre, had a tournament at Newberry's Back Yard BBQ this afternoon so we decided to head into Newberry early to take in the town and hit the local thrift shops. We had a great time checking out this adorable little town, made some great buys at the shops, and didn't come in last at our trivia tournament. A great day!
One of local thrift shops we stopped at. This place was dense, it will definitely require a second trip. Pretty much all the clothes here are sold for $1.99 a pound!

We found this old red engine...

...and had to hop on board!

Shannon takes a peak at a local cake shop. Some very pretty cakes in here!

This is our haul from another thrift shop that featured five different buildings plus lots of goodies outside in the back yard area. Designer ties, cameras and cardigans, oh my!

Out back at the same shop the hangers seemed to go on forever!

Farmer's Market Fun

Every Wednesday, our little city has a farmer's market.  It's full of yummy food, arts and crafts, and a lot of great people watching. We took a stroll together to check it out and pick up some fresh bread and veggies for dinner!

We also stopped by to see one of our friends, Alex. She and another friend run a business, A. green stitch and make a lot of vintage-inspired and re-purposed aprons, hair accessories and other goodies.

Poe Springs Getaway!

After Jacob got up early for a round of golf we headed to Poe Springs in High Springs, FL. It was a gorgeous day so we brought a picnic and our adventuring hats! The spring was cool and inviting so we took a dip after lunch and explored the rocky areas where it emptied into the Santa Fe river. He also made a new dragonfly friend! A swell time was had by all!
